Its good to be in America

Rivers in Cuenca

4 rivers run through Cuenca. Beautiful parks are built around them.

"Panama Jordan"

Roadblock

Sometimes the mountain reclaims the road and you have to wait until a path is cleared.

Rest stop

On the way out of the andes we stopped for banos y refrescas. This is the view from the rear of the small store.

Diesel

Not sure if its visible in the photo, but diesel is barely over $1. Regular gasoline is $1.48. (Govt subsidized)

GYE airport

One of the nicer airports I've been to. Free wi-fi, convenient electrical outlets, $2 for an iced coffee.

Steep Mountain

We wholeheartedly apologize to the McCartneys. This is pretty bad.

G'day mate

Throw another shrimp on the barbie, we are south of the equator. At least I think we are. We are 180 miles from GYE and the airplane toilet is still not flushing in either direction.

Waiting to board

About to board flight to Guayaquil

Immersion

I'm enjoying being immersed in a foreign culture where everyone speaks Spanish. I could totally see us being happy in Miami.

Drug sniffin dog yo

He let us pass safely

View from the plane

Apparently there is some sort of body of water between TX and FL

Carry on bags

I disagree with AA lady, my bag would have fit in the overhead compartment. Sure hope it ends up in Ecuador when we do.

Ready for departure

Thanks to Chad for dropping us off at DFW, we are ready to start the journey.
